Community Forums
As a way to bring
the community together for discussions of and information on issues
central to the neighborhood the NNN organizes community forums. Typically,
residents are able to ask questions of invited people representing institutions
and organizations proposing changes in the neighborhood or the city.
For example, Memorial Hospital discussed the proposed heliport in August
2000 and in January 2002 the Memorial Hospital Bartlett Street Reconfiguration
project. In 2003 Board members from the South Bend Community School
Corporation Board of Trustees explained and responded to questions on
the various proposed school redistricting plans. For the NNN, it is understood that all of these forums help neighbors be well-informed, active participants in the growth and development of the area - making South Bend a vibrant and dynamic place to live.
